Tropical Resource Management Papers (TRMP) are published by Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) since 1992.

Please find all publications, here.

Main objective of this series is to allow a wider distribution than the circuit of international scientific journals for the results of research on (sub)tropical resource management obtained by researchers and graduate students working within the framework of Wageningen research projects.

International research has been developing at WUR over time. First, research was conducted at research stations (Surinam and Ivory Coast) and in research programmes such as PPS (Mali) and Malang (Indonesia). Then via programmes (VF) executed at outreach posts (Burkina Faso and Costa Rica) and gradually in closer collaboration with local partners. Currently through programs in partnerships (INREF) with institutions from the south without outreach stations at all.

Since the start in 1992, the focus of TRMP broadened from Sahel countries to the whole of Africa and to the whole of developing countries in the tropics. The series reflects how international research has been developing at WUR.

The word management in the series name refers to the role of people in natural resource management. This is known as beta-gamma research. A broad range of research topics with respect to the (integrated) management of vegetation, fauna, soil and water may be included in TRMPs. TRMP’s can be thematic, reflecting a debate highlighting comparative issues relevant for a number of countries but could also be related to a conference or be relevant PhD thesis. Final responsibility for each contribution rests with the authors.

More than 90 volumes of TRMP have been edited and each of them is distributed to ca 100 addresses, mainly libraries in developing countries and libraries and resource persons at international institutes. This distribution serves as PR for WUR, but also as PR for the authors, often international PhD students that wrote the volumes and did the scientific work on which the books were based. Their work is brought to the attention of international institutes and can be found in libraries in the countries where they are based, increasing local access to locally relevant scientific work.

Till 2008 TRMPs were distributed as books (hardcopy) only. Since 2008 digital versions of more than 90 books are available. However, in developing countries access to internet is often slow and scarce. For this reason its will be possible, upon request, to receive hard copies of the TRMP books in the near future.
